The Nairobi National Museum is managed by the National Museums of Kenya (NMK), which is a state corporation institution whose role is to collect, preserve, study, document and present Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage.
It is located along museum hill, a few minutes’ drive from the city centre. It was built in 1929 and houses a collection of Kenya’s history, nature, culture and contemporary art. The major Attractions are an Art Gallery, Temporary Exhibitions, Botanical Gardens and Nature Trail and shopping and dining facilities. It is also a unique event venue for workshops, cocktails, conferences and other functions.
The museum is open throughout the year from 8:30 am to 5:30pm.
